The Formulas

Picture
American Cup Car Racing run 1200cc superbike engines are one of the crowd favourites whenever they attend, often entering bends 3 or even 4 cars abreast at unbelievable speeds.
Picture
BriSCA Formula Two Stock Cars are powered by 2 litre Ford engines and always appear in huge numbers with predicting results nigh on impossible right up until the last bend of every race as their steel bumpers clang together.
Picture
BriSCA Micro F2 Stock Cars have become incredibly popular in recent years.  These small machines are powered by a pre-sealed 7BHP motor through a drive belt.
Picture
Grand Prix Midgets are the oldest formula on the UK Ovals.  Starting in the 1930's, the formula has come a long way since then.  These cars are highly specialised and are powered by a wide range of high-revving engines.
Picture
Heritage F2 Stock Cars showcase a real mixture of machines, from the sit-up-and-beg machines of the early 1960's to the much sleeker and low-slung designs of later years and all without aerofoils and nerf rails among other modern additions.
Picture
Incarods are the home budget formula at Birmingham Wheels Raceway where Ford Escorts, Citroen AXs and Saxos are the popular car of choice, although you can see come peculiar choices too such as 514 Graeme Clarke's Rover Metro pictured above.
Picture
Junior American Cup Car Racing is a junior formula although open to adults in the USA where these cars can reach speeds up to 100mph on the big ovals.  This class is open to drivers aged 11 - 15 years old.
Picture
Junior Bangers are the junior crash brigade, using the same construction rules as Micro Bangers, but limited contact only. These young drivers often put the adults to shame as they battle for the lead while spinning and crashing the opposition.
Picture
Junior Micra Stock Cars are Spedeworth Motorsport's alternative to the ORCi Ministox.  Using the more readily available Nissan Micra running on a 1 litre engine.
Picture
Junior Rods are a non-contact junior formula,  with many drivers utilising Vauxhall Corsas and Nissan Micras.
Picture
Junior Stoxkarts are specially modified racing karts fitted with roll cages and aerofoils.  These small machines provide incredible racing action as they put the bumper in and bounce their way around the track.
Picture
Junior Super Two's are miniature versions of F2 Stock Cars, providing close racing action without the big budget.  Their bumpers are not just for show either,  bumper bashing is part of the spectacle from these little machines.
Picture
Mini Super Two's are the senior counterparts of the Junior Super Two's.  Using the same cars, adults and juniors can halve the cost of racing, resulting in increased grid sizes across both formulas.  This class is a very welcoming on for new comers and retired driver that just can't give up.
Picture
Modstox are the original budget stock car formula, consisting of a simple build design and running on 850cc engines, this formula is the perfect entry level for new drivers and experienced alike.  These cars provide huge entertainment for both drivers and spectators.
Picture
Mondeo Rods are a non-contact formula solely using the Ford Mondeo, mostly the first generation facelift model and Mk2.  These cumbersome machines provide excellent racing action as they diver side-by-side into the bends.
Picture
National Ministox may look similar to the ORCi Ministox, but in reality they are quite different.  These machines consist of a central driving position, hefty ironwork, race0tuned engines and strong driver protection.  The upper part of these cars are spaceframed with fibreglass shells.
Picture
Ninja Karts are the only formula open to 6 - 11 year-olds, the oval racing stars of the future.  These little, yet speedy machines are based on a junior kart chassis and powered by 50cc Honda engines, complete with roll cage and aerofoil.
Picture
ORCi Ministox are the original training ground for the oval stars of tomorrow, with contact allowed, their skill and race craft can often put the adults to shame.  The steady stream of up-coming young drivers sees this class thriving, even 40 years after it's creation.
Picture
Oval Track Legends were originally imported from the USA in the 1990's.  These pocket rockets are one of the leading non-contact formulas around the UK.  Based on vintage American hot rod body shapes, but powered by 1250cc superbike engines, these little machines are incredibly quick in a straight line and require a lot of skill in the bends.
Picture
Rebel Racers are based on vintage Ford Popular body shapes and powered by 850cc Reliant engines.  Across their history Rebels have delivered some of the closest racing imaginable, thanks to all the competitors being kept on a level playing field.  It's not uncommon to see a novice taking the win, as all of these cars are symmetrical.
Picture
Stoxkarts are the smallest machines running on the UK ovals but by no means are they the least spectacular.  Just as the name suggests, these are karts with stock car body shells and bumpers.  The racing that these drivers provide can rival any big stock car of hot rod formula, with bumpers clashing and cars spinning everywhere.
Picture
Slick Cars attract perhaps more variety than any other, as any Hot Rod is permitted to enter with all cars running on slick tyres.  In this formula we can see anything from the bygone era of V6 Super Rods to National Hot Rods, Classic Hot Rods and also the occasional visitors from other series from across the UK.

Picture
Stock Rods may look deceptively placid, but these 1400cc hatchbacks are some of the most rapid and hotly competitive machines on the ovals.  They may be small, but they pack a punch wherever they race.
Picture
UK Modifieds:  Dirt modified racing is big business stateside, but the British version utilises slightly smaller machinery in comparison.  Known as Modlites or Dwarf Cars on the American short tracks, the UK Modified cars are powered by 200bhp motorcycle engines but weigh just 500kg, meaning plenty of skill is demanded.
